Founded in 1879 for the purpose of playing Rugby Union

Affiliated to The Rugby Football Union, The Middlesex County Rugby Football Union and the London Society of Rugby Referees.  Associated with the Essex County Rugby Football Union.

Youth

Since the 1960s Upper Clapton has demonstrated a proven commitment to the development of youth rugby.  The Colts teams of that era provided home grown talent for the highly successful First XV of the 1970s and 80s.  The Club was hit by the difficulties many club experienced during the late 1980s and early 1990s when it proved difficult to sustain a youth section in competition with other sports and activities that young people wanted to enjoy at that time.

However, a small band of determined members re-established the Club’s youth and mini programmes under the banner of Epping Youth (Upper Clapton) RFC. Through the commitment of those members and the many parents and helpers we are once again able to offer rugby to players aged from 19 down to under 7.
