Stanley Cundall
Son of Joseph Cundall of Chingford, Essex. Husband of Florence Beatrice Craig (formerly Cundall), of 28 Carlton Mansions, Park Rd. Crouch End. London.
Second Lieutenant 9th Bn King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 64th Brigade, 21st Division.
Cundall originally enlisted as a private in the 10th Bn Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regt). The 10th were raised by the Lord Mayor of London from the City, and were unofficially know as the ”Stockbrokers”.
Killed in action Sunday 21st April 1918 aged 26.
The 21st Division had been heavily engaged in opposing the German offensive at St Quentin in Picardy and had suffered many casualties, it moved north to Ypres in April 1918 as the Germans launched another offensive in Flanders.
Cundall is buried in Klien-Viestraat British Cemetery, 6km south west of Ypres. Grave V.A.8.
