George Cochrane

Son of H.P & S.Cochrane of York.

Second Lieutenant, 7th Bn The Rifle Brigade (the Prince Consort’s Own).

Died 10/09/1917, age unknown.

The 7th (Service) Bn was formed at Winchester on the 21st August 1914 and was attached to the 41st Brigade 14th Light Division. On the 25th May 1915 it was ready to go into the trenches.

For the last months of 1917 it was heavily involved in fighting in the Ypres sector. During this period Cochrane was killed.

He lies in Kandahar Farm Cemetery, W. Flanders with 450 UK, Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians and 3 Germans.
