M Brewer

There are two possible candidates for Brewer, neither has many details, equally both may be wrong and Brewer could be a South African casualty.

Martin Brewer

Private in the 2nd Battn of the Durham Light Infantry.18th Brigade, 6th Division.

Killed 21/3/1918 during the German offensive.

He has no known grave and is recorded with 35,000 missing comrades on the Arras Memorial.

Melville Brewer

Able Seaman in the Howe Battn. Royal Naval Division.

Killed at Helles Gallipoli on 4/06/1915.

Brewer would have been one of the thousands of excess sailors not required by the Navy, who would fight as soldiers in the war. The Royal Naval Division would leave Gallipoli to fight on the Western Front.

He has no known grave and is listed on the Helles Memorial with 20,000 missing comrades.
